Subscribing to users

The first year on my gD account, I didn't even touch the subscribe feature in the menu. But once you use it, you are hooked to it. And now I think; wouldn't it be great to subscribe to users as well? Because I found some users that actively write dares and instead of searching through their posts (and thread), I want to subscribe to them. Just like you would subscribe to a thread, but now to the creator of the thread like you subscribe to a YouTube channel.

Furthermore, regarding this idea, I think that an option like subscribe to threds only and the same for posts, blog entries and [I]pictures (albums) should be available too, besides the general option of fully subscribing to the user.

What do you guys think of this idea? Did any of you want to read threads and posts of specific users too?

yeah that would be awesome i can think of multiple users i would subscribe too

That may be a charming idea at the first view, but what could such a user subscription provide? You can get lists of blog entries, posts, threads etc from a users profile and you can send the users you are interested in friendship requests so you have a quick access to all these users.

So, of course a subscription would be more comfortable but I don't see that it would provide any new features or is there something I didn't see?

Finally it's also a question if the vBulletin system supports this feature. If it is supported and only disabled by the mods or it could be added easily by any plugin they could make it available if there is a demand for this.
But maybe there is also a reason why this feature isn't available at the moment.

It's a cool idea, but it seems like it'd make stalking or targeting certain users easier, that might be a reason it hasn't been implemented. I'm sure I'm being paranoid but I know stuff like that would happen. Who knows though, but if they wanted to have it, they probably already would have it, I'd think.

I thought, that would be a reason that only would be (more or less) valid in germany

You might be right. But the same applies to subscription for threads and blogs. It's not really hard to just search the thread or blog with (Advanced) Search or by going a few pages in the history of the forum folder. So yes, adding the user to your contacts to keep them closer to you is also possible. But it would be easier to let their threads and posts automaticly pop-up on your home page of Your Control Panel just like your normal subscribed threads.

But, like you said, it's not a necessity but rather an user friendly feature.
