I'm in for this one, no cumming until solved again, and I've got a couple guesses, only one of which I'm confident of:

1 - Scientific Theorem (I,T,H)
2 - Agent (A,E)
3 - Fool's Gold (F,L)
4 - Prisoner (O,N,E)
5 -?
6 - Salmon (S,L,M)
7 - Wonder (W,N)
8 - Basement (B,E,T)

Neither is correct. The second word in number 1 is correct though, SCIENCE.
