BDSM movies?
Hello,
I'd like to ask whether you know any good movies that involve BDSM. Yeah, not 50 Shades of Grey, pls. Also, I'd appreciate it if you reccommended any good books as well! Much love, a kinky nerd xoxo

I've seen references to it in many movies.. But not one movie centered around it.
Series: - Californication (has episodes involving kinky themes) Overall amazing series too. Movies: - Secretary (2002) - Drama/Comedy - The Pet (2006) - Involving kidnapping and in the end quite extreme forms of degradation/slavery. - Maîtresse (1976) Can't immediatly remember more from the top of my head. P.S. Really really curious in suggestions from others *nods* Last edited by Satoshi; 04-17-2018 at 08:12 AM. |

I've watched a few BDSM films so far and after reading your thread I am looking for more. I find it hard to find some films that revolve around the element of BDSM because they are hidden among films that have but a minor element of BDSM. Nonetheless, I've managed to find quite a few new ones to watch.
[2014] The Duke of Burgundy [2014] Miss Julie [2013] Venus in Fur [2009] SM-rechter (translation: SM-judge)** [2001] After Fall: Winter* (minor element of BDSM) [1992] Bitter Moon [1987] Personal Services [1986] Nine Onehalf Weeks [1874] The Night Porter [1974] La Cagna [1966] The Embryo Hunts in Secret If you want to know which ones I watched and which ones I think look promising, PM me. * Spoiler about the film Spoiler:
The film has a major flaw and an awful ending (plot-wise), but still a good film.
** I watched this movie when I was young and I loved it. My film standards were a lot lower back then so I'm curious how good this film actually is.

Unfortunately, most often what I've found in mainstream media and publishing is "Vanilla person stumbles into BDSM, is weirded out by it, and ends up menaced by a deeply disturbed individual within its ranks." While some are very much centered on the concept of BDSM, most use it as an excuse to talk about antisocial behavior.
For movies, Secretary gets my vote for best actual-bdsm romance on screen! I've also seen the campy 1980s comedy Exit to Eden, the slow-paced drama The Duke of Burgundy, and Quills about the Marquis de Sade. All three are BDSM-themed, but were far less satisfying for me. For books, some top happily-kinky authors include: Anne Rice (The Sleeping Beauty trilogy, or Exit to Eden) Laura Antoniou (The Marketplace series, or her mystery/comedy The Killer Wore Leather) Laurell K Hamilton (Kinky poly with supernatural guys, which starts around book 5 or 6 of the Anita Blake series) Cherise Sinclair (Haven't read any of her work personally, but have heard promising things) |

this isnt really -on topic- so i apologize, but i recently saw the secretary for the first time and i cringed the whole time! is that a common reaction to that movie, or am i the only one who was uncomfortable watching it .

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women from last year is super good. BDSM isn't the focus of the movie, but when it shows up, it is good.

What about the classic, "mother of all":' l'histoire d'O.
Both book and film. I watched and read them about 20years ago. Liked them at that time but have no clue how one would like them now.

Second vote for Professor Marston and the Wonder Women. Not only for the positive representation of consensual kink, but also the rare film showing a positive representation of polyamory.
