For anal play: a spade-shaped glass or silicone plug with a narrow neck so it won't fall out too easily. I hear the Aneros is very good for prostate stimulation, as well.

For bondage on a budget: soft, flexible nylon or cotton rope (see above).

If you're using toys without a condom, coconut oil makes an excellent lubricant! It's easy to find at the grocery, melts at body temperature, gets nice and slippery, is safe for your body to absorb, and won't damage quality toys (ie: body-safe toys made from silicone, glass, or steel which are designed not to degrade while inside you).

If you're using standard condoms, coconut oil doesn't work because oil degrades latex and makes it break. In that case, Sliquid and Please brands both tend to offer solid water-based choices with fewer irritating ingredients than drugstore brands like KY or Astroglide.

I usually recommend a wand style vibrator. It’s almost universally going to be effective and give you a good experience. It’s worth it to try to find a higher quality wand if you can afford it, but you can get away with something cheap if you’re experimenting and won’t be too devastated when it breaks.

Doc Johnson medium butt plug. Many will say a beginner should start with a small plug but I disagree and think it's a waste of money. Yes, it will be a struggle to get the medium size in the first time, I remember I struggled with it too. But once you manage you are VERY proud and you will train your hole much more quickly than you realize. If you enjoy anal you will want to move up to bigger plugs very quickly so starting with the small size would have rendered it obsolete very quickly.

I guess this one really differs from person to person. For me it's just plain and simple water based lube, although for anal I often don't even need lube anymore and just some spit will do.
