[Fiction] Leaving The Old Behind - Pastures New

It has been about 1 month now since I made the jump. A young and relatively healthy male in early 30s, no assets of any great importance. A decent job, but nothing extraordinary. I used my years to blend into the background at work.

Seen and not heard, never making so much as a ripple.

I had been doing research online for several years and dreaming about how it might feel if I went 'full time'. I had met the couple just a few times beforehand, understood what they wanted and what I could offer in exchange.

My new life would be simple, as long as the rules were followed it would be fun.

Once my job had accepted my notice I really had very little left. I sold the majority of my belongings, had no real family to speak of and no friends to miss me. I kept just a small box of personal effects which I could examine once a week if desired. Everything else melted away, like an ice cube in an ocean. I was gone.

The couple had made a space for me. Basic and moderately comfortable, the bed was raised up and a full sized cage nestled beneath, rather like a mirror of the bed, cold, uncomfortable and uninviting.

I had an en-suite which was again very basic but met the needs, a 3 litre enema bag hung permanently in the shower, a razer to shave with and some soap, shower gel, shampoo and toothpaste for the everyday.

I was given a rather nice looking wooden tablet, it had a list of rules engraved into it. This was to hang above my head on the bed, with the intention that I read it every morning before getting up.

1. No outside contact. No visits.
2. Very restrictive internet access.
3. Wash daily, shave weekly. Be immaculate.
4. Keep a daily journal and document your experience for us to review.
5. You will have no outside contact, but in the event of an emergency or serious medical issue we will of course ensure you are taken care of.

Simple but effective.

I got off the plane and I was met by a beautiful young lady - in her late 20s at a guess. She drove me back to the house and I was met warmly by the couple, Anna and David. The girl was called Michelle, but she was referred to as 'shell'. At this time her involvement (if any) was unknown.

We relaxed, ate and watched TV. After a few days of familiarisation and acclimation we would begin the new chapter. I was nervous but also very excited to see what came next.
