Daleks never really die anyway. And if they do, they always get replacements.

I don't mean they physically actually come back as they were/are.

But we saw the destruction of a Dalek Emperor in the 1960s.

And we got another in 2005.

True and these New Guys which are dodgems would well be. They are suppior and Have imagination. Actually so did the 'Unclean ones' Takes some imagination to think about painting yourself green and tricking your greatest enemy doesn't it?

Daleks have always been manipulative.

However, RTD decided it best to turn them into "event monsters" without bothering to give them menace.

I must admit they did seem a little over hyped. Rose was friends with one Dalek in The imaginatively named episode 'Dalek' yet when see next sees them she can't believe and is terrified of them?

"Dalek" is one of the all-time greats. Really ramps up the threat and proves that a lone Dalek is capable of mass destruction and extermination. No need for armies.

And it makes sense. The Dalek absorbed her DNA in "Dalek" so she connects with it. In the finale, though, she knows the Daleks are straight-out evil.

I still think it was over hyped. I agree it absorbed her DNA and so connected but she still doesn't make sense and then later she is not so scared of Four Daleks with names. Mainly cause i wouldn't annoy a Dalek if i didn't need me

It was "over-hyped" because it was the first proper Dalek appearance on TV since 1989

And she's not scared because she knows she has the Doctor.

She pities the Dalek in "Dalek", due to not knowing what it's truly like. She hates them in the finale because they're all-out evil. Then she's not scared in "Doomsday" because she wiped them all out before and, this time, she has a Doctor to hand too.

I still think although the was a genius RTD couldn't do a finale properly as he always tried to outdo himself which he did but went to extreme lengths.

He knew exactly what he wanted, but his means of execution let him down. And he wrote himself into corners. It's interesting how long he spent on his scripts though.

I await Moffat's first finale. I bet it's not going to be the "super-duper awesome finale" everyone expects. Well, it might be, but it won't be 100% water-tight. It'll have flaws and plot holes and silly moments, just like RTD's finales.

Anything at all is great. A few episodes already are flawed but so were RTDs

I have to say I do miss RTD. As much as I found his stuff repetitive and predictable, I do miss it. However, onwards with Moffat and co!
