i think people just dont like it because tim burton directed it since people think him, helena bonham carter, and johnny depp are crazy. its a really good movie though

All my friends love Tim and the gang, but they still say it's overrated. However, I'm gunna buy the DVD soon and watch it to see what I think.

true. you might find it a little weird though. i know when i made my friends watched it they thought it was too gory and didn't like johnny depp afetr that haha

yes it was overrated but still bloody good.
johnny depp had an amazing performance and helena bonham even more.
great film hands down

I agree it's a good film, but no the most amazing ever. Depp is great but Carter is poop in my opinion.

haha i thought ed sanders was amazing in it. his part wasnt big and thats the only movie he was in, but i love him haha. if no one knows who he is he is the boy that plays Toby Ragg

umm... are all of u nuts? Have you ever heard the story its based off of? It hits the nail right on the head. Tim Burton did an excellent job for this PLAY and correctively turned it into a movie that is enjoyable to anyone whom enjoys the theater. I thought it was was a great movie. Sure there may be one or two greater then it... But not many... Def Top 10 worthy

it was a great movie but it was an even better play the movie was genius the use of blood and effects were amazing and the story of him being blinded by his unquenchable thirst for revenge. a great story a great movie and Johney depp is an amazing actor

and i as well hate musicals but i loved this movie

I've seen the original stage version and I can't help it Mrs Lovette is not Helana Bonam Carter. I know she sleeps with the director which I'm sure helps to get parts but I just think someone could have done it so much better. She really couldn't get the humour in the songs.

This is a clip of the original Mrs Lovette. Ignore the crap costume and the rubbish Sweeney Todd etc and yes that is the woman from Murder She Wrote and Bednobs and Broomsticks. She is amazing! I think if toned down a bit for the film her performance is far better than Carters. But then again I'm a bit of a musicals geek and I think some of the humour was lost in the film.

I luv this film.
Depp and Carter are both amazing

The Music is great, but thats not becuse of Tim Burton, and the singing in it is'nt over done or over acted and I feel Depp and Carter agot it spot on.

i want to do it for my school play but the teachers sed no

Allan Rickman is good (he plays the Judge) and I feel the quirkeyness of the film is brill

BTW Tim Burton hates musicals, the only reason he made it was because Carter (also his wife) loves the film, she orriginally wasn't going to play the part of Lovett but ended up filming pregnant

I'm full of facts!!!!!

Soz I'm editin this bercause I just watched the clip provided by tempered sugar. I think Angela Lansbury is gd, but you need to be able to act differently on stage than on film, Carter is perfect on film and Lansbury is perfect on stage.
