sweeney a masterpiece
having been a really big fan of the stage show, having seen 6 different productions of it, i thought that the film was every bit as good. Sondheim's music is an acquired taste (a bit like marmite) you either love it or hate it!
Johnny Depp's performance was great, but with shades of his performance in From Hell. (the accent) Helena Bonham Carter's portrayal of Mrs Lovett was so wonderfully understated. Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall also added a certain something. Great movie, but try and see stage show! |

I found from hell cringe worthy, it was too historically innaccurate, half the buildings in the background were not even built in London during that period.

Love this movie. Its so great, i love musicals and the fact it was gory jsut made it better.
