I'm not sure this is the main point about getting able to fist yourself. It seems more important to me that you learn how to let your vagina slowly relax, avoiding any kind of pain, that would only result in a non-voluntary contraction reflex (leading to more pain...). Maybe it's just about the meaning you give to the word "pain"! Discomfort, the sensation of being stretched (the same you feel whe you're actually "stretching" leg muscles before a run), some "resistance" you feel inside yourself, some dull pain, they all are OK.
