Is their a way to subscribe to a story? I meen a way to be updated when a new post is posted in a thread of a certain story? This would be helpful for people trying to follow a story over a long period of time.

Yes there is, open the thread. Where the title is written, just above it, click one "Thread tools" Drop down menu. Click on "Subscribe to this thread" Confirm it ..And you are done..!!

do people edit all the story/chapterised in colour? into the first post then just make a note on the thread ~story updated~ to bump it? that seems to make more sense then search thro lots of posts until you find the next bit of the story especially if it's been around a while.

people may already do it

i don't read the stories.
