Have the opportunity to meet a friend this evening. The evening I know will involve me being naked in wood, also having my ass spanked, having cold water thrown over me and possibly having to appear on a web cam. Obviously am excited but nervous do you think I should meet him or chicken out??

It depends on the person you are meeting. If you can trust him, go and meet him. But I would highly recommend you to be sure that he is not taking any camera with him.
