Coming out stories

So, so far I've seen lots of people from the LGBT community here, and if you don't mind te us some of your stories, like how did you come, if someone discovered it etc..

Mine was that my parents only believed that I was gay when they saw some bdsm gay porn on my phone when I was sleeping. That was a crazy day.

I came out Dec '97 when I was 32 to my parents and sibs first. I told 3 of my brothers at the same time in person first. We ran a family business together, it was one of the hardest things I had ever done. They did say they were very surprised but that it was "ok". I told my mom over the phone next, she was very shocked and surprised, and she was going to tell dad. I found it very difficult to be around my family and I had wanted to strike out on my own anyways so I sold my house and share in the business and moved to a nearly smaller city where I still live. I am close to my family, but moving a few hours away was the best decision I had ever made. I am out at work and private life to everyone.

Well, I've never come out really. Although I'm not fully gay either, but I tend to have a lot more sex with guys than girls. The only real time I had a problem with it is when my dad walked in on me getting my dick sucked by a guy that went to my church. That was VERY interesting to explain, but we got through it and he eventually brushed it off as something "all kids go through."

All of my friends had worked it out before I told them. One of my best friends is also bi and I had the biggest crush on her ever and it was SUPER obvious except I didn't think it was obvious because a) I didn't really know if I actually liked her and b) since she didn't know I was that way inclined I presumed she'd just take it as be just being friendly.

She did not. She was very very aware. So was everyone else. Apparently I am not subtle. That was about three or four years ago and since then, I'm not in the business of denying who I am or lying about it or even hiding it. It's not something I'm ashamed of. I'm always surprised when people around me didn't know I am bisexual because I am so open about it. I've never had anyone throw any shade because of it, or experienced any intolerance (such is the beauty of our generation amirite).

My parents definitely knew at some point but they either dismissed it as a phase, are incredibly heteronormative or have forgotten - they don't/won't care though. My uncle (mum's brother) is gay so they're pretty chilled out about the whole thing.

I came out at 15 as I was dating a guy in the military (he was 18). He was killed in a bomb attack in Lebanon and while my entire hometown was upset that one of our own died I went into a deep depression and couldn't tell anybody why. I finally told a mutual friend of ours who had never really been nice to me but we were together at a party and drinking. He told me he knew about me as my friend told him. I just told him it was true and he told my sister who was the same age. she kept it quiet but told her boyfriend who told his sister who was my age, then I more or less got outted. Family was ok with it but not my hometown and I left at 16. I have been out since as lying causes more issues than just being happy and adjusted.

Little cousin somehow found out and blurted it out to my mom, grandma, and grandpa.

They all turned and looked at him. All in sync they said, "So?"

I laughed my ass off.

When my dad found out he called me a freak... I was telling my brother and he over heard. I get why he was so angry all those years though...

A few months ago he came out gay and apparently was cheating on my mother with his boytoy. (I call all guys dating someone a boytoy, do not take offense)
