Worried.[Chat and Threads]
Ok, excuse any errors I make in this it has gone 3AM and i'm tired! But aye. I'm quite worried about people on here whom say they're someone whom they're not. I know I cannot accuse people of being different to whom they are and what not but I have suspicions about a few people mainly female being male.
Now, people are cut on this in the main chat room, I was going to post a thread about it, but decided to post a blog instead. Anywho, I know i'm 17 and 18 soon,thus classed mainly as an adult where I am but I am worried for people below my age, I know (If they are correct) that their are people 12/13 on this site, my friends are around the 14,15 mark and i know for a FACT they get hit on by guys twice their age.
Yes, their has been a new site opened for certain talks and what not, but i think half the dares people give are just wrong ( in my opinion) and should be censored or blocked. I think I heard someone say ( Can't remember if it was a member or staff or someone in the chat room) that this site is for kids basically, which is fair enough, I quite enjoy this site if I may so! Infact my Yahoo time has been cut at least half since i've joined, show's how addicting this site is!But anyway. Some people on here are ok, even if they are a bit old and what not! And then there are others you just want to report. I have mentioned this in another ranty blog, but I think you should have a member of staff in the chat room. I know big_joe goes in from time to time, but it's limited. People, I know, can't get on or in there sometimes, but something seriously needs to be done not only in chat but some of the thread's too, otherwise I fear some poor las, or lad, at 13-14 will be well in to things they shouldn't be like child pornography. Maybe i'm just beeing a worry-freak or something, I don't know but I think if one of my friends got in to that stuff I would be pissed off, seriously. So they're online, and I don't know them in person, but I know for a FACT these are kids, and they don't deserve to go through the whole harassment shit. I don't think the chat should be taken away all together, there are some definately good, reasonable people in there, I just think it should be moderated more is all. What's your opinions?

I think you are completely right because if a girl or boy from the age of 13 or 14 is being lied to by a guy from 34 or whatever and tell the kids to send pics,,That's just wrong but,, this site can be banned for child porn too,, and i am addicted to getdare like lots of people,, that would be a disaster for me and lots of us...
i think you would be a good moderator

I've only been in on the chatroom for the last few days, but everytime i enter i get PM'ed by AMLOST every guy in there. Some of them leave me alone when I say I'm 13, others just keep annoying me. It even goes so far that i have to get real offensive for them to stop.
As for the pictures, I never send them, but i can imagine not everyone sees a problem in sending pics, or even dare rejecting a request like that. Some guys just try to manipulate into giving your msn or sending pics.

Okay I'm gonna try to take all of this one by one...
Well, as for content in threads & private messages that is not be appropriate you should use the report button. This is the best & fastest way for us the be able to take actions if any is needed.
About users being 12... again you need to report these users so we can check on their registration & posts.
As for some members pretending to be females, males, etc. There's not much to do about it sadly. It's really up to users best judgment to trust or not these people. If you have a doubt then you can put these people on your ignore list, not talk to them in the chat & of course, not send them any pics or such.
You can post threads about anything that concerns the site in the getdare.com forum (http://www.getdare.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?f=9)
and any suggestions in the Suggestion Zone (http://www.getdare.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?f=29)
As there's a better chance by posting there for you to have staff members to reply faster & more members are likely to reply their opinions as well

I like the idea of a special chat mod but I don't seem to see the same names in the chat on a regular basis. If there is a user who is there all the time (and not just recently) and is a longtime user I would be happy to promote this person after a period of observation.Posted 05-08-2008 at 08:37 AM by depp

I don't see how moderating it more is likely to help... all it will do is mean that the people older than 18 will just PM those under 18, unless the goal is to have the moderator remove those under 18?

I got told it was for kids. And turning IM's on and off should be allowed, but it's not. At least that would help to have the option to switch'em off or on.

If you simply report the person who has sent an offensive PM it is Possible to investigate into this, but only if it was serious. If you do feel anyone has been trying to take advantage of someone in the chat room and Know this for a Fact, then report it.Posted 05-08-2008 at 01:00 PM by Big_Joe
