Drawing a butterfly
I posted a blog not too long ago about The Butterfly Project. You can read it here if you are interested.
The gist is, when you get the urge to self harm, you draw a butterfly on yourself.
Ever since I have been aware of this project, I have been very inspired. I want to do anything I can to support those who are going through things I have struggled with for years.
Even though I've been in a better place, sometimes the urges just creep up on me. That is what happened last night. I had the knife in my hand. I was crying and my hand my itching to hurt myself. And then I saw a butterfly (they are all around my house) and I remembered the butterfly project.
I am not going to be ashamed of this butterfly. This butterfly is a symbol of strength and I am happy and proud to wear it!
And I hope others can wear their butterflies proudly too! In support of their strength, or in support of a friend or family member who struggles with self harm.
