Missy, i hate to tell you this, but, you're doing yourself no favor by applying the [Non Fiction] tag to everything you write.
Realism is far to be found - leaving aside the physical impossibilities of your latest - if your family truly works and thinks the way you describe, i fear for the mental capacities of the parties involved...
No offence intended, however harsh i may sound - but as a student of the human psyche i fear i see no realism in two-dimentional characters such as the ones you describe.
