First I'd ask why they don't want to do it and then I'd decide according to that.
In general I'm more keen to wait for a better moment but I'd say it can also depend on the sub and on the task, if the task is part of a training or a longer process, or if I know the sub might then feel bad for not doing it when told I might demand for it to be done anyway.
