You promise do something if something happens. Don't do comic promises (eg, "I'll do it if tomorrow will be the end of the world" or "if the U.S. will announce the recognition of South Ossetia"). Let's take most real examples.

I'll start.
I promise to run 2 km in the street wearing only tights (in daytime), if PFC CSKA Moscow lose tomorrow.
