Kinky shopping anonymity
As I'm new to kinky shopping, seeing how much info you have to share when buying online and how questionable some e-shops seem regarding security I'm curious how others deal with this. So:
1. Do you buy kinky stuff online or offline?Online: 2. Do you use your real name and address?Offline: 6. Do you use cash, credit card, something else? |

1. Do you buy kinky stuff online or offline?
I'd have to travel a long way to buy anything kinky offline. There aren't any adult shops in my town or the nearby towns, so just much easier to shop online. Online: 2. Do you use your real name and address? Well, if I use a fake address, I'm obviously not going to get whatever I ordered... I did use a fake name the first time I ordered a sex toy online, it was with a prepaid card. If I didn't trust a site I probably wouldn't order from them to begin with, but I would potentially do that again. I guess if I really didn't want to give out my address I could open a P.O. Box for a short while. 3. Do you use your credit card, prepaid cards, something else? Prepaid cards. It's basically a gift card you can use anywhere. There's no account to be hacked. I have used a credit card a few times. 4. How about your email/phone number? I have a separate email account that I use when signing up for various sites, or some shopping sites. It really helps keep down the spam in my primary email account. I frequently use fake phone numbers if they're required. 5. Does it bother you/Do you wish you didn't have to share this information? Not really. Offline: 6. Do you use cash, credit card, something else? It'd depend on the shop, but probably cash.

1. Do you buy kinky stuff online or offline? I haven't done a ton of shopping, but so far just online. I have ordered from lovehoney.
2. Do you use your real name and address? I have because lovehoney seems like a decent enough place to order from without worry. 3. Do you use your credit card, prepaid cards, something else? I have used my debit card and haven't had any problems 4. How about your email/phone number? Never had an online store ask for my phone number. I have put my email in. 5. Does it bother you/Do you wish you didn't have to share this information? I'm not bothered because I trust the site I'm shopping on. Honestly I haven't looked at places that sell more kink focused items rather than just general sex toys. I have a friend who found a decent bondage kit on amazon.

Mostly online, although I've been lucky enough to find great things locally a few times too. 2. Do you use your real name and address? Yes, I do. 3. Do you use your credit card, prepaid cards, something else? In person I'll pay cash if I have it, but online or if I don't have cash, I've used either paypal or my credit card. 4. How about your email/phone number? For ordering online, yes. 5. Does it bother you/Do you wish you didn't have to share this information? I'd be really happy not to have to share it, honestly, but the realities of billing and shipping make that difficult (I've had things not arrive to my place when using a fake name in the mail, for example), so generally I try to pick reputable shops and trust them to understand their business. It's a leap of faith, but so far I've been fairly lucky. |

1. Do you buy kinky stuff online or offline?Mostly online. Partly because of anonymity but mostly because I have way more choice then and it's convenient. Online: 2. Do you use your real name and address?Offline: 6. Do you use cash, credit card, something else?If I buy offline I pay in cash

Thanks for the answers so far! Seems like choosing trustworthy shop(s) is the key. I think e-shops could have local points or some deals with local sellers where you could order and/or pay.

This isn't always true. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with having such record in the bank's (and probably the card provider's and the shop's too) database. Maybe I'm just paranoic though.
