I can't be the only one that pushes getdare's bbcode to its limits to make my threads look pretty! Here's a thread to post any bbcode tips and tricks you want to share. ^_^

To start:

Colours!

You can enter any colour in the COLOR tag, not just the named ones! Just use a colour wheel site, get the hex code, then put it where the name is, with a # before it.

[COLOR="#7C81E8"]Meow I'm a kitten![/COLOR]

would produce:

Meow I'm a kitten!

Coloured links

For some reason you can only colour links if you put the colour inside the URL tag. No idea why, but if you've ever had trouble getting them coloured, do this:

[URL="www.getdare.com/bbs"][COLOR="Orange"]Link[/COLOR][/URL]!

And not this:

[COLOR="Orange"][URL="www.getdare.com/bbs"]Link[/URL][/COLOR]!

I can't really call all of them tricks because some are just examples of how you can use standard BBCode to beautify your boring text. Also, I found a few new tricks while summing up everything I thought is worth sharing.

Using [LIST=__TYPE__][/LIST], you can use the list types:
     0 = • (or ◾ if nested)
     1 = 1, 2, 3, etc.
     A = A, B, C, etc.

Posting 10 images or more: (6+ attachments and 4 images)
Per post, you are allowed to use 6 attachments and 4 (direct) images. The image attachments function the same as normal pictures; they are just hosted on getDare instead of elsewhere. You can get even more images by using attachment of any other post on getDare. You can find all your attachments here. Sadly, you can't add any attachments to your account via the previous link because all attachments must be linked to a post (as said, max. 6 per post). And if you delete your post, all attachments linked to that post will be deleted as well.

Also, an old internet trick to make even thinner white lines than what RiskyFlame said is to put a transparent image with the height in pixels you want between lines. For example, using a 1x1 pixel I just uploaded to imgur:

Since I spent soo long trying to get it to work a little while ago is there a way to scale images on the GD site using the IMG command?

Mm, I gave it a cursory look, but it seems the answer is "yes but gd doesn't support it".

I couldn't find a site that'd let you do something like www.urlhere.com/img.png?height=100 either, presumably because it's apparently pretty slow to resize images on the fly like that.

So yeah, as far as I can tell it looks like we're pretty much stuck with just resizing it yourself, sorry.

While we're throwing around wishes, does anyone know how to get a two column layout on here? It'd be great to have something on the left and right of the page, and not just one or the other.

This isn't, strictly speaking, a bbcode trick, but it's something I've been trying to figure out how to do with bbcode for ages.

Image resizer: (the perfect solution!)
I've searched for resizing my images through the URL a few times before and today, I finally have found a viable method that is even better than what I was searching for. The only thing you need to do is to add a specific URL in front of the image-URL you want to post on getDare.

https://demo.cloudimg.io/operation/size/filter/original_image_url

• token: your Cloudimage customer token, but use demo for free.
• operation: cdn, cdno, width, height, crop, cover, fit, bound, crop_px.
• size: specifies the size of the target image. If you use an operation not requiring a size, then use a placeholder like none or n.
• filter: parameters like fcontrast, fpixelate, fgaussian, backtransparent, rotation to apply filters on your image
• origin_image_url: that's an easy one.
