Since I have been chatting with two crazy Brits lately, I have noticed some major differences and oddities in the foods that we eat.

For example: They apparently don't put butter on popcorn!

Another example is that in Canada, smarties are similar to m&ms (chocolate with a candy coating) but in the US they are these nasty little chalky sugar tablets (we call them rockets here).

What are some of the weird things you eat in your country?

What differences have you come across between your country and another?

What is something strange that people eat in different countries that you just don't understand?

Canadians in Eastern provinces drink their milk from bags. I never knew this wasn't an international thing until I was a teenager.

some of the odd ones ive heard (sorry Canada)

1. Milk in bags, then proceed to put bag into a jug?

2. Pouring maple syrup into snow to freeze it then eating it

3. ketchup chips... just why....

So in the U.K we have a delicious dessert called 'Spotted Dick'

It's like a sponge cake but made slightly differently and contains fruit

In the Netherlands we have something called "stroopwafels" just two thin pieces of some sort of cake/pastry with caramel in between.

Then we also have poffertjes. Very small pancake like things. They taste very good. Here is a picture (never ate it like that)

A popular Breakfast item in the northern UK is something called black/blood pudding.

It's basically pigs blood, oats, lard and salt and then we fry it.

I think most people know the difference between ham and bacon. But even though I am in the U.S. I can go to the store and buy Canadian Bacon imported directly from Canada. The only thing is I wouldn't be getting bacon I would be getting ham. I hope you can follow that.
