So you should start by creating a nice new custom race of deviants. From the moment they step into space you fate will be forever intertwined with theirs. Get a notebook and list six rewards and six punishments (if you're out of ideas maybe ask others for suggestions) and keep this by you for the rest of the game. Whenever a random event occurs, an anomaly is investigated, a war begins, or any otherwise impactful event if the result was a net positive for your species then you have been a good leader and should reward yourself. If however something bad happens to those poor souls under your protection then you should be punished for your incompetence and lack of good leadership.
In short - make it a fun roleplaying experience!

I've recently been playing a bit of Oxygen Not Included, Risk of Rain, and MTGO/Arena so one of that lot would probably fit me best

How fun I just started playing Oxygen Not Included, so I will try to give you a dare for that one. Hope I understand the game well enough.
Any time something humiliating or weird happens to a character (they pee themselves, or they become angry) you have to mimic this. Its up to you how far you want to go with this, if it is too much of a dislike to pee yourself, just pour water over your pants for example.
Other than that, if one of them dies, you have to take off one piece of clothing. Hope
Hope that works for you, I've tried to go through your likes and limits but I might have missed some things.
