I hope I'm not coming off as antagonistic and I don't want to monopolize too much of your time, but I just want to follow up one more time since I already went in on this topic.

I can accept this is just the way it is, but I am still confused by the contradictions.

I don't understand why links to nudes is wrong when ads go to sites with hardcore pornography on the first page your sent to.

I also don't understand why links to nudes is wrong when you can not only have a profile picture of nude cartoons engaging in a sex act, but it can also be an animated gif. At least properly labeled links force you to opt in to seeing it where as the animated sex acts can only be avoided once you've already seen it.

Again, I'm not trying to be a brat or make your lives difficult. It's just a topic that I've seen people have confusion on for as long as I've been here and I'm trying to provide as constructive of criticism as possible. <3

I would honestly also prefer if cartoon porn would not be on gD similarily to real pictures, albeit I'm sure the law is different regarding those.

But yes, they are different to nudes and would be harder to ban I guess.

Links don't bother me, as if you don't want to see, don't click them. But I can see the issue regarding risk of underage pics.

The difference is that with the ads, and with the cartoon porn, we know for absolute certain that there is not children in the pictures.

I agree about the cartoon porn. At some point years back we decided to ban those also, but it is super hard to enforce and that was right before I got sick so I don't know what happened to it.

Again... silly question, but isn't that exactly the same issue KinkTalk would have with any images? Even there we still have the same issue of not being able to verify age.

I understand that it does boil down to "Depp said he doesn't want images" and that's still fine, but if reasons are never questioned, or questioning gets shut down it would feel bad...

I think the main points seem to be:

We can't tell the age of the posters... but we can't through Kink Talk, so point is moot there.
We don't want underage users seeing porn... but we have the ads that show that stuff, so the point is moot.
We want to avoid breaking the law by having minors either posting stuff, or viewing stuff... but the site has covered itself literally as much as it can.
We don't want it becoming a site just for pictures... yeah, fair enough this is a fine point, but it just means everyone jumps through hoops, could just allow albums and such and scrap KinkTalk.
We don't want it fading into nothing like KinkTalk... Except the only reason nobody uses KinkTalk is because we have this place. Sod all to do with allowing nudes. Why have two forums for the exact same thing, with the exact same users for the most part?

No, and I said it already just like 5 posts ago, getDare has a childish name, it was originally created by young people for people, it attracts more young people. We can protect those young people and we do our best.

From what I can tell, the members of getDare are pretty 50/50 on this subject. For me, I would prefer not to see the nudity all over the site. I know others would prefer. There are subtle nuances of the rules that I wouldn't mind changing.

I agree with Happy Me that there is a BIG difference between words and images. Words are easy to just not read if you don't want to. However, images assault my eyes when I don't expect it. I have less control over that.

However, the bottom line is that Depp is the owner of the site. He has set the rules and told us what he would like this site to be. Regardless of any other arguments, common sense or otherwise, that is the way it is. The mods only enforce these rules.

Now, we have two choices, we can all follow those rules the best we can OR all of the people who would prefer to have nudity all over the site can migrate over to kinktalk. It is the best of both worlds and then everybody can be happy.

We don't have any way to control what you do in your PM's, but if someone reports you for sending an unsolicited nudie pic we will give you an infraction.
