For me, this is how I get my desires fulfilled. I love my partner, but she doesn't get down with the kink stuff, and it is a large part of who I am, but it's not so large that I would leave her over it. As a result I live a shadow life.

Definitely go out and test the waters at BDSM events! If you have a friend bring them with you! Even if they aren't into the scene, play it off as if you just wanted to see what it's all about. It will help ease you into it!
