Just lost my beautiful title and was wondering if it was a bug or if it's standard practice.

I assume you are talking about the forum rank that appears below your username, above the avatar, when you post.

The forum rank changes depending on the number of eligible posts you make. People who make a donation to the site have the ability to customize their rank (if that is still being offered). This may be a way for you to have your favorite rank permanently.

I had a custom rank that was given to me in a thread and was just wondering if it was meant to be permanent or not as i had assumed it would have been.

I would suggest messaging lola and ask her to change it back as only an admin can do that.
