Okay...I've seen a number of threads about this, so I thought I would add my own spin on things...and try to put different pieces of advice in one place

What is a signature?

Your signature is your calling card, it's there for people to know more about you and your intentions on this site, it can be a very good place to put additional information such as limits, PM dares, links to threads you are running, conditions you have to be contacted...or some fun quotes or ways to express yourself.
I recommend everyone to have a signature...even if it's there to say..."leave me alone!"

I will always look at a persons signature before contacting them or setting dares, without this I tend to ignore a person unless they've posted something particularly interesting in the forums

Word Limit: I believe this stands at 1000 characters (including BB code makeup)...which can be filled very quickly if you have a lot to say!

So as one member said...it's only really worth including this detail if you want to receive dares on the site, if you aren't looking for dares I would suggest stating this...it won't stop everyone from messaging you, but it should stop most

So...for this part of a signature I recommend being thorough, for me there is nothing more annoying than carefully constructing a dare and then finding out..."Oh, that's a limit for me" when it wasn't listed in their limits!

What I have done is to have a blog page for mine as many others have, this allows you to be more thorough as well as giving some detail, especially when some of your limits may be "Soft" limits as opposed to, "will never do under any circumstances!"

It's best to break things out into:

Like - I enjoy doing these kinds of dares
Dislikes - I don't like doing these dares, but will if set
Limits - Please never set me a dare with these, it will be ignored and I will think you a nasty person for issuing them...

Here is a general list I have put together about the types of dares I have encountered here and worth putting in your list:

Pain - Spanking, Pegs, CBT, Nipple torture, Tit torture, Implements

Fluids - Piss, Scat, Diapers, Cum, Enema, bladder control, Vomit

Sensation - Ice, WAM (Wet and Messy play), Tickling, Blindfolds, Wax, Toothpaste/icy hot, Shower play, Oil

Sexual - Orgasm, Denial, Chastity, Anal Play, Insertion, Edge, Ruined Orgasm, Deep Throating

Clothing - Stripping, Clothing Control, Streaking, Cross Dressing, Going Commando, Wedgie

Restrictive - Gag, Collar, Leash, Bondage, crotch ropes, Rope,

Domination - Slavery, Pet Play, Age Play, Body Writing, Humiliation, Hypnosis, Sissification, Blackmail, Consent non-consent, financial, Porn Control

Exhibitionism - Pictures, Cam Sites, Truth threads, Public, Hidden Public

Tedium - Rules, Sensory Deprivation, Line Writing, Corner Time, Exercise,

DDLG Food control, TV/PC control, sleep control, nursery rhymes, arts and crafts, colouring, Disney movies, Paci's

Also note the extreme: Family, Illegal, dangerous, self harm, cutting

I am not saying I have put all of the above in my list personally...but hopefully this gives you a good list of things you think are worth noting!

PM Dares:

So...sometimes it can be fun to get dares at random...I've only actually had one user use mine so far, but that doesn't mean you should ignore the idea...

Displaying your signature with your posts:

So, creating a signature doesn't always mean people will see it, if you want people to see your signature whenever you post, go into USER CP -> Edit Options and then Thread Display options at the bottom

Other advice:

I would always recommend looking around at other peoples profiles for some idea's to add to your signature, there are some really special ones here, mine is actually quite a basic example, we have an expression at my office "Steal with Pride" which means to follow other peoples learning's and examples, so don't be afraid to take cues from others here

If you have something important others should know about you, try to fit it in here so they can read it

Don't be offensive or insulting to other people, this will be seen as flaming...and as much as it doesn't make you look very nice, it may be banned by a Mod for causing disharmony on the site.

To finish, a signature is your own, be creative, be informative or simply be funny, it's your choice...how people see you may well reflect on how you are treated on this site!
