Well, what works well in theory doesn't always work well in practice! Having now played, it is clear that the original rules don't work. Before you know it, you have 400 points!

So, the following DOES work:

Play 5 games of battleships with the winner of each round gaining points for each square left at the end.

In the first 2 rounds, it is 5 points per square
In the next 2 rounds, it is 10 points per square
In the final round, it is 20 points per square.

The person with the most points at the end of the final round is the winner and gets to spend the points. The winner also has one more decision - whether to play a sixth game, where he would double his points if he won or lose them all completely if he lost.
