Here is a way to spice up the OG dig straight down dare.
Choose a spot somewhere and start digging straight down. Don't stop until you hit bedrock.
Make sure you have enough pick axes and plenty of space to pick up what you mine.

This post is just going to list the things you could run into on your dig. Feel free to assign your own tasks for each or tune in later for my suggestions.

Situations:
Fall into a cave.
Fall into lave.
Fall into water
Find a spawner
Find a lush cave
Get shot by a skeleton
Get blown up by a creeper
Get attacked by zombies
Find an abandoned mine shaft
Find abandoned mineshaft with rails
