Well in that case I probably still couldn't agree to (4), just as it's pretty harsh to basically give up your own life and live whoknowshowmany years in sadness / with all happiness gone.
Under the condition of (5), which is that I don't notice it myself / don't have any sad feelings/memories, I might be able to agree to it if it really makes a huge difference. But I'd have to know it does and not that many people end up sacrifing their happiness for a barely noticeable improvement.
