I know there is a very similar thread saying getDare should be more mobile friendly

Although if it were possible, a getDare app might be a better way to go

It might work to have it link to the existing site without altering the main experience.

What I'm suggesting is having the app as an option to "check in" on messages/notifications etc but the site is maybe still the better option if you are going to be using it for a while
