The amount of time it takes to reply will determine how long your exposed.

Less than 1 min your safe
1 minute you get posted for 1 minute
2 minutes and you are posted for 5 minutes
3 minutes you get posted for 15
4 minutes and you get posted for an hour
5 minutes or longer you get posted for 12 hours

The extension time is the next longer time allowed on eblue.
So if your posted for 1 minute it will have 5 minute extensions.
