Evolution is a slow transformation of species over a long
period of time. Each change is made because of a mutation
in the DNA of an organism. If this mutation causes harmful
effects, the organism’s offspring are unlikely to reproduce.
On the converse, if the mutation causes beneficial effects,
then these organisms are more likely to survive and
reproduce. These “superior” organisms will survive and
branch off from the “inferior” organisms and form their own
species. Over time, each of these species may split into
several different species creating a “family tree” of species.

Writing a research paper at the moment.
