Here's a new version I came up with. Once you're in the gunge tank, you stay in there until someone takes your place. You might escape mess-free, or you might be gunged several times.

I'll start by sitting in the gunge tank. Does someone want to roll 2 normal dice to decide what happens? I might get gunged or pied, or you might have to take my place in the gunge tank!

2 - Gunge
3 - Take their place
4 - Pies
5 - Take their place
6 - Gunge
7 - Gunge
8 - Take their place
9 - Gunge or pies, roller chooses
10 - Gunge
11 - Take their place
12 - Get in the tank with them

You can't roll twice in a row, but as soon as someone else rolls you can have another go. Once someone else takes my place, the next person rolls to see what happens to them.

If someone rolls 12, they get in the gunge tank as well! There will then be 2 or more people in the tank until someone has to take their place.
