Then you're looking for your avatar. Click on the thing rachie linked you to and that will give you directions on how to put in an avvy. It doesn't need moderaters approval first but does need to be site appropriate. Just make sure there isn't any nudity and you should be grand :3
It can be confusing, the profile picture will appear on your page in the top left. You can put a different picture there than what is in your avvy too.
