Have you ever *really* been locked out of a hotel room?
 

Of the hundreds of times I've done the hotel hallway/elevator dare, the riskiest/worst was when I genuinely walked naked out of my hotel room door, instead of into the bathroom, and needless to say the door shut. Awesome.

It was about 1am, I was not horny, this was not planned, it was a genuine mistake (I stay away in hotels a lot). I was horrified. Steeling myself, I used the hallway house phone to see if I could get someone to come up. No answer.

So, I had to take the elevator down to reception, where to my further horror, I realised that the elevator would need a card-key to operate it from the ground floor, as a security measure, so if it opened onto a packed lobby, I'd never be able to just frantically press the buttons to escape back up to the 5th/6th floor or wherever I was, and not that it would help, as I couldn't get into the f-ing room anyway!

The doors opened...and here were just a couple of people still drinking in the reception bar, but there were a lot of barriers and panels that separated the route in from the outside to the elevators from those who were enjoying a drink, which that meant they couldn't see me (well not the lower half of me anyway).

But I had to leave the elevator to be able to call discreetly to the guy on reception to come over and give me a new key.

Amazingly, he didn't bat an eyelid, gave me a key and I scurried back to my room. I don't think the drinkers saw me (I'm sure they'd have made some sort of noise), but unless he just turned tail and went back to his bar, he must have seen my white ass hurrying back to that lobby elevator.

Again, this was not planned, wasn't a dare, wasn't anything. It really was the old movie-trope of locking yourself out of your hotel room naked.

The only saving grace was that, given my long history of the hotel hallway dare, I was probably a lot better prepared for this than your average Joe...but it was still not an experience I relished.

Anyone else had this horrifying experience?

I have told this before.

I wasnt naked. I was dripping wet in just trunks. My inlaws had locked the card in their room. My sis-in law grabbed my towel to cover her suit and said thay since I was the guy...I got the key.

They didnt gove me a towel.

So dripping wet. In old soaked trunks. Barefoot. I walked to the front desk.

Now I am an exhibitionist. I love showing off my nude body.

This was worse in many ways.

I mean I was dripping and barefoot. And the outline of my...I am sure showed a bit.

In a pool thats one thing. In a crowded lobby! And it was crowded. That was another.

I had to wait in line. The person in front of me in a suit. Kids pointing. A couple other guys laughing.

I waited in line trying to pretend this was normal. Then after 15 minutes...humbly asked for the key.

Nipples rock hard. Goose bumps. People staring. New people coming in and staring.

My sis in law thought it was hilarious.

Naked, yes. Locked out, no
I was naked, and asked to get ice. They gave me the bi key, opened the door, shoved me out, and shut the door.
So I walked down the hallway, down the stairs. The ice machine was at the bottom. A drunk lady was there and she asked me to help her, and of course I did.
She told me that I'm naked, I said that I am not, I'm wearing the Emperors new clothing. I got my ice and went back to the room.

I've always thought those dares were interesting, but would never attempt in a general sense. I have never had it happen at all, although I imagine being drunk randomly might lead to it. I hope it never happens because it would surely be awkward when not planned.

I did a dare once where I left my hotel rooms with 2 keys and the door propped open. 1 key was for my room, the other was a random identical looking key. I had to place one of the two keys 5 floors away in the stairwell.

I went back to my room, worked up the courage to strip naked, and stepped outside with the remaining key. I locked the door behind me and was at the moment of truth. I either had the working key and could get back in, or I would have to go completely naked to retrieve the working key.

I tried the key in my door and it did not work. So I was locked out of my room naked with my working key 5 floors away.

Not naked but definitely embarrassing. I used to travel a lot for work and had the door lock quit working for me.

I stepped out of my room at a motel (rooms open to the parking lot) to go to the vending machine. This was pre-internet days and I had a stack of porn mags on the table next to the door I had been "reading".

I get back to the room and the door won't open. I went to the desk to get another keycard and it didn't work either. The desk called maintenance and they had to break into my room. The maintenance guy saw everything on the table but didn't say anything.

They fixed the lock and all was well. Just a little embarrassed.

We were staying away for a boozy weekend, me and two friends.
We got back to our hotel about 3 am and hit the mini bar for a last drink.

My friend wanted a bottle of water as well but we had drunk the ones provided I said I’d go to the vending machine downstairs and get one. My other friend said he would come to but we should go in just our underwear!

We were drunk and this seemed like a fun thing to do.
So off we went with a room key.
We got to the lift and as we waited he suggested we left our underwear and went down naked. Again I was pissed and thought why not.
The vending machine was on the ground floor but no where near the reception or entrance I thought we’d be fine.
Anyway. I dropped my pants and the lift arrived. I got in but my friend didn’t. He leant in pushed the button and the doors closed.
My pants were on the floor outside the lift.
I actually remember thinking that it was funny, so I continued down. Stark naked. Just a £1 coin to buy the water.
I managed (I think) to get the water and back up to the room without being seen.
But and here’s the fun bit. My mates had been flirting all night, when I got back he’d scribbled on the do not disturb sign to give them 30 mins.
This made me quite mad.
I wasn’t sleeping in the same room as they were shagging in.
I thought how dare he do this.
Remember I was very drunk.
I decided, without really thinking to go down to reception and see if I could book another room.
It genuinely wasn’t until I approached the rather bemused night Porter that I remembered I was naked.
He had obviously seen it all before. I just ignored my nudity altogether. He couldn’t give me another room but he did give me another key to my room.
I went and let myself in.
Luckily for me they’d fallen asleep.
Bastards!

I do wonder whether it’s vastly more common than we think. Part drunk people on dares, and part people genuinely getting the wrong door and ending up outside.
