I think it depends on your orientation relative to the TV. If you were on your side it would look left and right, but sitting up it would be up and down.

Actually, the first pong game I made also had the paddles on the top and bottom. Due to the fact that a ZX81 had no built-in sprite capabilities, it was much easier to move a block of pixels horizontally than vertically, and less likely to jitter with the extremely low display refresh rate and the 2.5MHz 8-bit CPU.

The first computer i remember was the 80286 by Intel...stunning performance along with cutting edge graphics.
Never owned one though. By the time i was a teenager, and able to own my own pc, they've evolved to the 80486 DX-2 series. Mine even had the "turbo" button!! Such exiting times it were... |
and now technology has advanced so far it is unbelievable. and yet few people could actually explain everything (or anything) to someone from 30 years ago.
