I think I'm done for the night. I thought I had something with John Haigh, a serial killer who used acid to kill his victims and who has a movie about him. Arguably a psychopath and used acid but I can't make any other words fit and unfortunately, his movie doesn't feature his name in the title so it's not related, it seems.

I just wish I knew what we had right so far

The only one I've come up with so far is... Alien !

scguycola 01-01-2018 02:52 PM

If the titular movie is Alien, than the answer could be necronom

PacifierGirl2 01-01-2018 02:57 PM

Hiram Bingham III: Indiana Jones

Jeff Dowd: Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski

Palle Huld: Tintin

Forest Yeo-Thomas: James Bond

Joaquin Murrieta: Zorro

Joseph Bell: Sherlock Holmes

Frank "Rocky" Fiegel: Popeye

---

None of them seem relevant to be but Popeye has six letters and begins with a P so maybe the answer is Frank "Rocky" Fiegel lol

For #6 I don't know about the phone part, but the eel has put the word "shock" or something similar in my mind since I first saw it.

It may also be making some reference to somehting of the correct Genus of the A-B-C clues.

AND not sure if it helps someone but:
The 2 main actors/characters in POINT BREAK (2 versions) were:
1991
Patrick Swayze Bodhi
Keanu Reeves Johnny Utah

2015
Edgar Ramírez ... Bodhi
Luke Bracey ... Utah

I stepped out to dinner and come back to tons of progress :)

If you would like to compile your answers into a concise list for each number and letter, I will tell you how many you have correct if you so desire. I will only consider 1 list, so think it over and discuss it and let me know.

sammyy2qt 01-01-2018 05:29 PM

1: Psychopath

2: point

3: blank?

4: blue?

5: unilateralis?

6:

A: deep sea

B: amphipod

C: genus

My answer is amphipod as it was the inspiration for the movie alien

sciencegal 01-01-2018 05:34 PM

3 are correct in that list.

I would suggest 2, B, and C are the correct ones, but maybe just because they are ones I see myself.

sciencegal 01-01-2018 05:42 PM

Since I am feeling generous, I will say that from that list, A, B, and C are correct. No others, including the guess were correct.

scguycola 01-01-2018 06:12 PM

It’s a long shot here but is the answer phronima?

sciencegal 01-01-2018 06:16 PM

Alien!

We have a winner.

But can you guess the correct answers for the other 6 clues? ;)

sciencegal 01-01-2018 06:50 PM

Finishing the Puzzle...

I will post puzzle 2 some time tomorrow. Until then, here are some hints about the rest of the puzzle.

nina@ was correct for number 6, it is in fact a Moray Eel. This is important.

PacifierGirl2 is also correct about clue number 6. The word is not actually eel. (Fun fact, electric eels are not true eels)

Think about what scguycola said about number 1. He is on the right track (initially). Think of their relationship. What is Hannibal Lector to Clarice? (Hint, think broad terms).

As for clue 5, this was my most ambitious one and I am not surprised it was that difficult. Here are a few hints:
I live inside another.
"Predators that eat prey in units of less than one"

As for the others, the solutions have been said by someone at some point.

SeaFlower 01-02-2018 06:55 AM

the 10 letter word for 6 might be epithelial

reading wikipedia:

Moray eels have goblet cells (cells <-> phone) which are epithelial cells

then the 3 letter word maybe could be gel??!!

epithelial gel, does it make any sense
