I will add that not all of your guesses are correct so far.

I'll lock myself in for five puzzles with fifty spanks every morning.

I think the first picture is masquerade. Mask - ER and I don't know what the last picture is but it fits, right?

1: masquerade

2: point?

3: blank

4:

5:

6: ???

A: deep sea

B: amphipod

C: genus

MarvHarvey 01-01-2018 01:12 PM

#2 is probably POINT
it might be SPACE but less likely

PacifierGirl2 01-01-2018 01:18 PM

We might want to figure out what we're actually trying to work out, as it's unlikely we'll get every word. If it's the first letter of each world which would mean that 2 probably begins with a vowel.

EDIT: Maybe we should be looking at the names for some deep sea amphipods? Specifically the genus

nina@ 01-01-2018 01:19 PM

bluej is not 4 letters...

PacifierGirl2 01-01-2018 01:22 PM

Pretty big breakthrough, I think. I found this article:

https://www.livescience.com/18287-su...-deep-sea.html

which refers to a deep sea amphipod called Alicella gigantea.

So Alicella may be the genus that gives us a clue.

Reverse image searching #5 has led me to this page: http://www.alexanderwild.com/Insects...ungi/i-MKH9vLD

unilateralis is the only 12 letter word I can find that's half-relevant as I'm pretty sure the arrow is pointing at the fungus. (Hope this isn't considered cheating, I always considered anything as fair game in my thread but I understand if you see it differently, sciencegal)

It may make a full sentence or expression, for instance if "point blank" is right next to each other, that's a phrase.

I think perhaps "blank" was used above as a description not an answer?

Ah my fault, sorry

sciencegal 01-01-2018 01:34 PM

Using reverse image search is perfectly fine with me. You probably need it for the clue you are referencing, possibly others.

But I will say that you may need to think a bit more abstract for some of the clues. The answer may not always be exactly what the image is.

PacifierGirl2 01-01-2018 01:35 PM

Nah, Nina seemed confident it was blank. I think it's either black or blank. Could be empty, if that fits.

Currently, the only one that I'm 100% dead set on is masquerade. I think our A, B and C are right but I'm not confident that Alicella is the correct takeaway, unless we want to be looking at Alice in Wonderland characters?

1: masquerade

2: point?

3: blank? black? empty?

4: hard? blue? acid?

5: unilateralis?

6: ???

A: deep sea

B: amphipod

C: genus

Keeping up with the Science-y themes, the Not Basic could be Acid! Not sure what the Narwhal has to do with it but it fits.

nina@ 01-01-2018 01:39 PM

no i am not confident about the answers.. they were just my first thoughts or guesses

did sciencegal say we are looking for first letters.. could be a sentence or a bunch of associated words

also she is saying we should be more abstract - is she referring to our point and blank guesses

PacifierGirl2 01-01-2018 01:40 PM

For the point, I'm sure there's some Mathsy word for the highest point in the Z axis that's 5 letters.

EDIT: Alternatively, it's the existence of the z axis that makes the graph 3D rather than 2D. Perhaps SPACE could be the answer we're looking for? I'm not too confident in that, though.

MarvHarvey 01-01-2018 01:43 PM

Is a masquerade a deception?
Wasn't there a surfing movie called Point Blank where an FBI agent was undercover?
