Am I really submissive? Am I terrible at it?
I have seen so much of this lately.
Unless you are involving beings (animals, people, etc.) who can't consent (children, people under the influence), or haven't consented,
then:
*unless of course you identify as a brat, then rock on with that too!
- I do my kink in this way, or that way, does that make me wrong?
- I keep my personality and don't just smush to my doms whims, is that wrong?
- I have a life and personality and don't always want to do this, does that mean I'm not really submissive?
- I only feel like domming sometimes, I don't know if that means I am not really a dom?
- I really only feel like being kinky in the bedroom, is there something wrong with me?
- I sometimes don't feel very obedient or subby, does that make me bad?
- Should I be punished for not being in the mood?
- I am sometimes (or always) snarky and smart to my dom(me), does that make me a brat?*

Yes! Totally agree! I mean, you can be dissatisfied as a submissive if you'd rather be dominant, and vice versa...and you can prefer to be a switch than one or the other...but unless you are a awful human being and treat other beings horribly then it isn't of poor quality, it's just your style.

That's my point though - subs, doms, switches, etc., they're all people, and their kink is their own. You can't be a bad _____ based on your kink and how you practice it, but you can lack human decency and do horrible things like, as you mentioned, skip the consent bit, treat people abominably, etc.

This is so true! I think a lot of people struggle with thinking they aren't 'good' at being a dom or sub for one reason or another, and I've seen those blogs and comments floating around here recently too. I do have to say that I feel lucky that I've had a good friend like you along my way of exploring my subbiness - to say things exactly like this!
