Fucking lose-on-purpose-losers - 1on1 Dare battle Fix

Interested in games with the stakes of doing a dare for your opponent?
But opponents lose on purpose turn you off?

Don't despare.
You and I can fix this!

First ask yourself if you don't want to lose yourself? Seriously, we are doing this for the chance of losing, right? But it's not an interesting game if we are not playing as good as we can.

If you really want to play for it, daring the risk to lose but taking the chance to win and make your opponent lose as best as you can, the following will only get you similar-minded peers as opponents.

Changed rules

Usually you play one match against each other, with the clear outcome that one loses and the other one wins. Usually the loser has to do a dare, or whatever stakes you agreed on.

Now, agree on two matches with the following outcomes.
Only the player winning the first match and losing the second match has to do their promised dare.
IMPORTANT: if you lose the first match, you don't do your promised dare, no matter if you lost or won the second match.

Yes, that means if one player wins both matches and the other player loses both, neither of you gets to do their promised dare!

How it works

Huh, why and how does this solve the issue?

Game theory.
Assuming you really want to win and not to lose on purpose, there are two possible opponents you can have, and you don't know who it is this time: the serious player, or the want-to-be-loser.

The serious player wants to win and not do their dare as well as you. The want-to-be-loser wants to do the dare he promised.

In case A, against the serious player, he tries to win in the first match to get his risk on losing and the chance of getting away. If he wins, he wants to win the second match.

In case B, against the want-to-be-loser, if he doesn't win the first match, he doesn't get to do what he wants, his promised dare, so he wants to win the first match, so he can lose the second match and "be forced" to do his dare.
So while he may lose the second match on purpose, he plays the first match against you seriously. This means you still have to fight against a willing opponent to not lose and having to do your dare.

No matter which opponent you get, you have a serious opponent in the first match, where it counts for you.

Side effects

- It's more complicated (oops, I did it again).

- You have to play up to 2 games for the same outcome of 1 against a serious player.

- If it's a fair opponent match, the chance that nobody of you has to do their dare is 50%, and the chance that you have to do your dare is only 25%.

- You might experience that your opponent drops out and ghosts you if he lost the first match, since he cannot do his dare anymore.

- You have less potential opponents to the increased complexity, and due to filtering out want-to-be-losers in the long run.

Sidenote: if both of you admit that each of you actually wants to do the dare for the other, so actually wants to lose the second game, you could only play the one game and the winner gets to do the dare.
Alternatively, how about choosing a game where losing on purpose is a similar challenge against an opponent who wants to lose on purpose, too?

If both players want to lose, then it makes sense that they have to win to lose don’t want people throwing a challenge just to get the dare - so selfish lol.
