First it depends on how I got there, (shipwreck, plane crash)

In either case, I would look around the beach for supplies that survived with me. EVERYTHING would be gathered as it could be useful

After gathering everything and putting it in a secure location, I would get a lay of the land to find sources of fresh water, natural shelters, other sources of food.

Water would be the first priority as 2-3 days without water (less in a tropical environment) is death. The ideal water source is a small running stream (boil the water) followed by pools of inland fresh water. If I can't find a freshwater source in the first day, I would set out containers to collect rainwater. Also before the sun comes up, dew has settled, i can use my clothes to collect the water and wring it out later. Finally, cutting a tree limb in a downward way and tying a bag (or again clothes) would also yield some water.

Now the coconuts (brown = AVOID DRINKING the act as laxatives, green is good)

Shelter is important, that is where the lay of the land comes into play, natural caves are amazing, (if the plane or boat wreckage is usable that is first choice.) If I have to build a shelter, I would build it in an elevated position and it would be a simple A frame.

For food,
fish, bugs, clams, sea snails are all doable.
Fish- set up rocks during low tide in a V formation, when the tide comes in, fish will swim around them and as the tide goes out, they will get trapped. I could then use the fish as bait for other small creatures.
Seaweed is good for you (harvested fresh) and doesn't taste too bad. (little chewy for me normally, but we are surviving.
As for other plants only consume what I 100% know what it is, (in emergency, I would rub it on my skin, wait 30-45 minutes and see if there is a rash (rash = leave alone)

If you were thinking about a small deserted island like in the cartoons, know that they are close to bigger islands (12 miles at the most) a tree can be hollowed out using the machete into a boat. follow the birds that fly around to the nearest land and get to the bigger island. what I posted is actual survival advice from experts.

As for the cold fusion, I would win a Nobel Prize and help power the world bringing cheap, clean, sustainable energy to all and undercutting fossil fuels so much that they will only be seen as foolish.
