Gray Rep Points

I have heard rumors of what they meant, but can a mod or somebody who is a 100% sure, wut exactly do the gray rep points in the User CP mean?

Okay... I'll try my best to explain (lots of mysteries about the rep system...)

I see you have 5 green dots. If, for ex., a newbie with 2 green dots wants to add to you (or substract) it will get you a grey thingy because they don't have enough rep to add (or substract) to you... To affect your reputation the rep-giver must have enough points themselves in other words...

If this helps at all:

The rep system is based off of 3 things on how you might effect somebody else's rep. Post number, time been here, and their rep. If the user does not have enough of the three of those him/her trying to give you rep will not effect you're account.
