Though I'd start a thread in our little sub lounge here about literature. We can all put in ideas of book that we feel are interesting or relevant to this part of the site and those that frequent it.

So to get the ball rolling as it were

I'm currently reading the works of the Marquis de Sade, and i must say, that this 18th century writer makes some of the porn you find on the internet look tame. Justine i would say is an incredible piece of erotic writing.
If you hadn't guessed form his name, sade brought the idea of the love of cruelty. The word sadism coming from his name.

I would recommend this book for anyone interested in the 'scene' not as a manual but more of a holy crap that's intense type read!

the book on amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Marquis-Sade-John-Yankowski/dp/0870679406/ref=sr_1_1/103-1944628-1909447?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1193620816&sr=8-1

The next book i'll be starting on after this is the other side of things Venus in Furs, who's author Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch gave his name to masochism anyone read it, want to say what they thought?

We studied Marquis de Sade at school, found it all very thrilling. Though sadomasachism (under different guises) went on long before De Sade, I shall try and dig up some literary reference if you're interested?

you studied it at school, wow! Must have been a level or above i assume, as gcse we had damned of mice and men, rabbits george i can see the rabbits...

I know that sadomasicon was around before these books, as "nothing's invented, nothings new, or made to order just for you" (The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui Brecht) however they gave rise to it actually having a name which stuck and is used today.

Any literature you could dig out would be good, i was thinking this thread could be a place where people could put down books they were reading and thought others might be interested in.
