Best Fighting Console Game?

Which fighting console game do you think is the best?

I personally think Mortal combat - latest game gonna have 64 playable characters, but what do you think?

easily dead or alive 3 not as much fantasy as the others

It's a toss up between Super Smash Bros. Melee (which is simply superb) or Soul Calibur 2 (which is also simply superb).

At the moment I'm in a Nintendo mood so SSBM.

Well I agree with warlord on the dead or alive... I like the dead or alive games and dead or alive is a good fighting game to have..

To have something classic, streets of rage for the mega drive, kicked ass in side scrolling form!

i used to enjoy MK2 when i was about 3, lol. but doa 4 is v. gd, the combos get very long tho

i have enjoyed the fast pased combat of bloody roar 3 with the ability to shift into a were-beast during combat and open a whole new range of moves and a powerful beast drive super move

definately super smash bros melee or soul calibur 2... 3 was just waaaaay too difficult

I haven't played many fighting games, but among the ones that I have, Super Smash Bros Melee is the best in my opinion. I like the variety among characters, the fighting system that's easy to get into but takes time to master, and the extras like the trophies with game info and the unlockables.

Ok I would say Guilty Gear x2, but it would also come in a tie with Street Fighters 2.

Oh and sorry to say, but Soul Caliber(All soul Caliber games)=Button Mashers. You would have to be slamming your face into the controller to lose at that game.
