I have spent some money on buying cameras around the house over time. Started with a webcam on my pc, indeed with auto-answer so I could be watched whenever my D wanted. Then bought a camera for my living room, bedroom and later on kitchen and bathroom. I like the idea of losing privacy to my D, but this is also an expensive investment
