Do you type them straight into getDare? Do you plan them/make notes? Do you hand-write them? Do you type them up into Word/Notepad before posting? Do you write one part per day? etc.

Basically, how do you write your story/stories?

Other than slowly and with great difficulty? I write them up on word and copy them across. The same as with my Fanfiction one, but that's another matter.

I've been writing in Open Office's word processor (Writer, I think it is called). I generally use Word, but Writer isn't bad. Word's better at catching grammar mistakes, but the Writer file size is tiny compared to Word.

I write whenever I get time, which mostly seems to be the middle of the week. Most of my current story is just a matter of remembering what happened, so I've been jotting out things that happen later in the story and shoving them down to the bottom of the file.

Having a buffer between what you have written and what you have actually posted works well for me. There have been numerous times that I have remembered a detail that was important for the later part of the story, and I've been able to add it in without worrying about editing an existing post.

I do them all at once, no plans, no redrafting, in MS Word.
Then I'll copypasta into gD, if I want to upload it here.

I tend to write my stories up in Word and save them. A new document for each part. I tend to write stuff and just go with it. Usually, when I go back through it, I tend to notice bits I don't like and I end up either deleting the whole thing or faffing about for hours. So what goes up on getDare is usually my first draft. I apologise for any mistakes and just hope there aren't any plot holes - if there are some, well, the reader can make up a theory or just use imagination to get around it.

With my latest story, I've just written up part after part with few breaks. I also have some handwritten notes to help me keep track ^__^

While I don't post on here, I am an avid writer. I write the bits I see on a document or piece of paper. It just depends on what's handy. I try to keep the whole story on one document and when I post in it chapters, I paste those particular chapters in a document and load them up individually.

Some have notes, some have outlines. It depends on how much is in there and whether or not I can process it all at once.

I type them into word so I can save them for myself. And I post a chapter whenever I think of something or when I have time and can be bothered, which sometimes takes ages.

I start with an outline of the whole story. Then I outline each chapter. I do research to get it as accurate as possible. Then I write it in word and copy/paste.

I write "off line" using a plain text exitor (vi) and a text formatting programme that converts the "source" into something suitable for cutting and pasting into an edit window.

Genrally it takes a month or two before I'm happy with how it reads and feel it is ready for public consumption. Some times it takes much longer depending on my writing mood. I currenltly have a story started, targeted to this site, that has been in progress for three months now. I tend to read, and reread my stories, making slight changes with each pass. Multiple revisions are critical, in my humble opnion, to producing a good story; the most imortant thing that is gained is consistency, both in the plot and in the narrative style.

My stories are fantasies that turn me on. The first part is usually from a picture or something on the web that turns me on. The story get filled in when I am in bed and I imagine things I could put in the story that gets me excited. Idea for the following segments usually occur as I am daydreaming about the last post.

To write the story I use Gmail documents. This way there is no file that someone could find on my laptop and I can work on the story from anywhere. Also I have less problems when I paste from Gmail docs than from word. I use spell check and reread before I post. I find it useful to reread the segment after I post it. Very often I have to edit it to correct errors or make it more understandable.

Me.. wow, I am one paranoid son of a bitch!

Usually, I type mine into Word/Pages (I have a Mac). Just incase anybody would find them, I save them on my flash drive, which has another seperate volume INSIDE a seperate volume (.sparsebundles), which are encrpyed with a 256-Bit Code. Only I know the password so... It's a very slim chance that any would find them. :D

Yes, I am paranoid, if I already answered that question.

For my current story, I started writing it with Google Docs >< (http://docs.google.com) but now, I write it with word.

The problem with Docs is that spelling errors are only found if you "Check for Errors"

As an author of short stories and such, i have to be in the right mood to write them. That mood is USUALY either:

Inspired (Randomly comes to me)

or the most common,

Depressed

Sometimes when i get depressed its easier to write about the more....edgy topics, such as the story im writing now.

I began my story here (Architecture of a Sadistic Nature) one night i was extremely depressed and in a dangerous state of mind (Ive since recovered but ive been continuing it)

Anyways, the night i began i was extremely depressed over stuff (I wont get into, it was a bunch of stuff) so i turned off all the lights in my basement and lit candles. I Then performed a ritual of protection and such to my gods (As i am Pagan) and left the candles on, i turned on some music..the song "A Succubus in rapture" by Dimmu Borgir, and began writing.

When i write its all about the state of mind im in, which is usually a dangerous one. But as ive said in my story, "All great art is made from suffering"

I throw everything together in Word as I gain the time and drive to do so, but I don't save most of what I write any more, unless it's incredibly well-written - not that I don't want to, but I just can't afford the space.

I typically just write late at night whenever I'm in a creative or venting mood. Writing is a release for me, I got a few psych issues and a psychologist suggested writing as an outlet so anytime I feel the need I write. The story I'm currently working on is my first that I've posted and the only one that really has a fitting on this site which is why I posted it. As for how I actually write them, well as I stated it's an outlet for me, so I write when I need to release and it just flows out. I don't plan anything, don't takes notes, I go back and read the previous bits before I start writing so I can stick to the story line and not confuse parts but aside from that it's all improv every time. So if I'm in a particularly sadistic and violent mood my story takes a spin in that direction like my latest chapter while on the flip side if I'm depressed and just trying to cope, they take a more sensual or calming side.

I started writing my own stuff to pass some of my free time about two years ago. It semmed that I got really good at English, which is my second language. I even think that I can write and speak better English than I do Greek, which is my first language. Anyway, about three years ago, several of my essays in EWnglish started getting high rankings in several competitions the school sent them to and since then I've been writing several stories that popped in my head. The creative person that I am, I sometimes make these stories into movies, me and some friends gather and shoot the story and make a movie. May post some links to videos inj the near future. As fars as how If an idea pops into my head I make a mental note of it and when I have access to a computer with a story in progress in it, I start writing. As far as the story I post on this site, I write about once a week and get a full chapter done. I type it in MS word to make sure I don't have any spelling mistakes and save it. Proof read it a couple of times and then post it here.

I'm a multi-paragraph, free form role player. Sometimes, I'll get ideas for stories and I write them down on anything I can get my hands on. No notebook in sight? That's fine...a napkin, candy wrapper, anything that can be written on...and I jot the main idea on it and stuff it in my purse for when I do have my laptop or notebook. I watch a lot of sci-fi and fantasy movies and read a lot of books of the same genre, which is where I draw much of my creativity from. Plus, I have an awesome imagination. (Shameless self-ego stroke.)

Im super new to get dare. But I write from being turned on. And I put a password on my doc. neo office for mac. If i write from anything else other than from turn on, it turns out bad. Like I wrote from a comedian's stand up, and my main character (a person that i write like its myself) he turned out bad.

Other than slowly and with great difficulty? I write them up on word and copy them across. The same as with my Fan-fiction one, but that's another matter.

This, when I used to write for fan-fiction.net. I used to write a whole ton at once then upload every couple of days. Nowadays, I handwrite everything but I don't type it up.

Though we'll see if that changes in November if I attempt NaNoWriMo again...

I type it in Word because it's easy to spell check and even it suggests solutions for Grammatical errors. As a non native English speaker, I love Word. :D Then I copy paste the content.

And most of the time I do continue writing my story whenever I'm horny. Then only kinky things comes to my mind.

Currently have 2 stories on the go

STRIP POKER WITH A TWIST / THE SEQUEL (http://www.getdare.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=62306)

TEDDIES ADVENTURES (http://www.getdare.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=87403)

I currently write both of these on Ipod Touch. Have 2 different Ipod's for each story - Use Draft Pad.

1) Use Ipod

2) Email these to myself

3) Copy to Word

4) Edit - send to friends (poker story) to read and check - make changes if required

5a) Take Pictures, edit etc (if required)

5b) Make puzzles, games, wordsearches, crosswords, quizes etc

6) Make teaser / to private message to people who have commented

7) Post when the time is right

----------------------------------------------------------

I write all over the place, a paragraph here, and paragraph there etc. The great thing about a ipod touch, you can just whip it out (The Ipod) and can take pictures if required.

----------------------------------------------------------

I usually post several parts a week. (Strip poker = 254 parts in 377 days) so post more days that i don't.

----------------------------------------------------------

Ideas-
I don't tend to need idea's for the poker story, how ever when i start writing i airm for around 650 words per part, often considerably more. I always try to leave on a bit of suspense, willing viewers to come back for more.

Teddies Adventures is totally different, i have written almost 10 parts (posted 2) i can then change detail of what is coming up if i so wish. (Do similar with poker story) But as this is total make believe cuddly fun, i try to include as much fun activities that will make the readers laugh.

For the most part I type them up in Word. It helps me in the revising stage if I'm just able to look over what I typed, look for grammar or spelling errors. See if some things aren't well explained or something. I sometimes do write down notes of certain chapters. However, most of my brainstorming and notes actually goes on in my head and just gets typed on to the screen. As for writing frequency, that all depends on if I have time especially with me in college now. It is difficult to find motivation sometimes or ways to describe something but I manage to push myself forward, despite me not having as many readers as other stories. But it's better that I have some instead of a resounding none. Also I tend to write my stories in long chapters. Shortness is kind of an annoyance to me and I just can't write that way. Another way I write my stories and many good authors do this is end their chapters with a cliffhanger. It creates suspense and makes the reader want more and want to know what comes next.
