About Leaving Time
For more than a decade, Jenna Metcalf has never stopped thinking about her mother, Alice, who mysteriously disappeared in the wake of a tragic accident. Refusing to believe that she would be abandoned as a young child, Jenna searches for her mother regularly online and pores over the pages of Alice’s old journals. A scientist who studied grief among elephants, Alice wrote mostly of her research among the animals she loved, yet Jenna hopes the entries will provide a clue to her mother’s whereabouts.

Desperate to find the truth, Jenna enlists two unlikely allies in her quest. The first is Serenity Jones, a psychic who rose to fame finding missing persons—only to later doubt her gifts. The second is Virgil Stanhope, a jaded private detective who originally investigated Alice’s case along with the strange, possibly linked death of one of her colleagues. As the three work together to uncover what happened to Alice, they realize that in asking hard questions, they’ll have to face even harder answers.

As Jenna’s memories dovetail with the events in her mother’s journals, the story races to a mesmerizing finish. A deeply moving, gripping, and intelligent page-turner, Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult at the height of her powers.

The last book club didn't go so well, but I am really hoping a few of you will give this book a chance. It was really good and one of the only mysteries that I have read and not predicted the ending.

If you do decide to read the book and this time doesn't work for you, please suggest another time! I would love to try and accommodate as many people as possible.

Either way, let me know if you plan to attend!

Let me know if you need help. It isn't super complicated. I am excited you are going to try and attend.

I've really been enjoying this book so far, but unfortunately I will be out of town on the 30th (last minute shenanigans ruining my plans), and I will not be able to attend this event. I hope everyone else enjoys the book as well :)

Was anybody else planning to attend? My fear is that it is only the three of us and I know that Ferbite hasn't had the time to finish the book yet.

Is there another time that works for both of you? We could change the date. Maybe next weekend?

Next weekend should work better for me. Saturdays are rather busy for me simply because I pop in and out all day, so it's hard to commit to a set time. But Sunday evenings I'm usually home after about 5pm EST. I also have more flexibility during the week if that works better for everyone.

Hello,
Sorry I wasn't able to complete the book...
Actually any time frame works for me, i will just have to set a few alarms :) The one that majority is comfortable with, I can accommodate to that... 5pm Est is around morning here.
We can shift to next week, if that's what you decide... A week will be a good time for me to complete the book :)

It is really great.

I think I'll plan the event for next Sunday. I'll let you know the time once I check my calendar. I'm a bit tipsy right now.
