At the moment at the bottom of the staircase you usually have some kinda of post like this right?

So get a chair and hook your underpants to the top of the post. Then kick the chair away so you basically dangling and doing a hanging wedgie
I recommend using two pairs of underpants so it doesn't rip. Also keep the chair near to you. So you able to dangle your legs but you can put your feet back on when its too painful and be able to unhook yourself.
