Should there be a holiday for getdare?

The holiday can be any kind/type of post is accpetable no matter which thread it is posted in.

Getdare staff does not moderate anyhting (this can be adjusted if need be)

This holiday can come once a year.

What do you guys think?

This would go very very wrong.
Maybe you could have a Holiday Thread. Where people can say whatever.
But the rules are there for a reason. You'd have under age M/s posters and people being rude.

The main problem with that is we need these rules for legal reasons and for the sanity of the site. In my opinion, and I am not speaking for the rest of the staff, we allow it once a year, then it will turn into once a month, then once a week, then everyday. Guests will not know whats going on and think, hey, if they can do this, maybe I can too. Its a good idea in theory, but it wouldnt work

Indeed, posting pornography or anything like that, so that kids under 18 could see it, could getdare really busted. As ManBearPig said, old habits die hard and even once a month can pretty much put the whole site in anarchy. It's a nice idea but when it all comes down to it, it wouldn't work.

loke... In the past you have already made similar suggestions like having an unmoderated section and stuff... I think you need to understand that rules are to make the place as safe and enjoyable for members so they are there for a reason. And mods are members just as you. We don't log in just to "hunt and catch" people who break the rules.

I think a nice holiday would be a day where everyone enjoys themselves and worry a bit less about mods, how the site is run and whatnot :)

The holiday you are referencing was the first few years of getDare. :D
It's been done and I don't really want to go back there. ;)

a no rules holiday wouldn't work (obviously it would be madness) but some kind of commemoration, party kind of thing could be cool.

and if this doesn't happen can i make a thread in the lounge on the day Getdare was founded celebrating it or something?

also is this 06-14-2006 the date Getdare got started on because if you type in user one thats the first user you get?

Join dates before 2006 were borked during a conversion away from one of our old bulletin board system. We have moved three times in our history to our current setup. Some stuff broke in the process. Interestingly we did not even birthrates until recently. We just confirmed users were above the COPPA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_Online_Privacy_Protection_Act) age (this is we don't allow young users to register and ban them immediately). I believe getDare was started in 2004.

Edit: getDare was publicly launched January 21, 2005 (almost 2004).
