I am going to uni soon need your advice one what to take

And any tips or trick you picked up for Uni life and studdy

Also Any good easy to hide dare items

What course are you doing?

Laptop
Things for fancy dress
Plenty of booze
Paracetamol
Make sure you get a freshers wristband
Make sure you join a sports team or society
Make the most of first year and make sure you have no regrets
If you're doing humanities don't read the preliminary reading they give you as its a waste of time.
There's no need to buy every book as the library will have some copies and some on the book list will be used very little. You may want to purchase one or two core texts when you find out what they will be.
Be friendly
Be up for a laugh
And enjoy it.

In which case ignore the point I made about not doing the preliminary reading as it may be more important for science based courses. But I'm sure someone else on here will have done something similar and be able to help advice you how crucial the reading is and indeed first year in general.

Try not to worry about University though, they ease you in gently and everyone is really friendly as they'll all be in the same boat as you and eager to make friends. Freshers is important to make contacts with people and acquaintances but don't worry if you don't feel like you've developed a core group of friends early on, that will develop towards the end of the first semester.

Take nothing. Just take a book and pen in case if you want to take some notes. If you have a smartphone/tablet, then that would be more than enough. I would also take my pen drive/portable hard disk just in case.

I am taking my desk top and laptop but they do have labs as well

I would make sure I had passwords set on my laptop/phone and organsing things on my computer in such a way to avoid any embarassment

But seriously, one of the hardest things I had to learn was decent time management. I highly suggest a large whiteboard. Good for homework, reminders, and even full schedules.

If you have a smart phone, make a Google Calendar with all of your classes on it (Including Room numbers in the titles!). It should sync with your phone and can even alert you if you forget.

The only other piece of advice comes as a suggestion from a fellow Science major. (Physics FTW!) I made sure to have at least one non science or math class each semester. It is very easy to fall down the analytic rabbit hole and get tunnel vision. Hell right now I'm taking: Thermodynamics, Special Relativity, Quantum Field Theory, and Introduction to General Psychology. Last semester I took a Theatrical Heritage class, and it was one of the best classes of my collegiate career!

Besides that, just have fun and live life! Experience the immortality that is youth!

Don't worry about your grades too much in first year (I assume they don't count) but try and make a reasonable effort with the essays otherwise you'll make the mistakes you should have made in first year, in second year. It doesn't have to every assignment but try and at least do a couple of assignments properly, as I dropped marks all over the place in second year because I hadn't made an effort in first year. First year is a great time to experiment with different techniques and finding out what works for you so don't waste it.

I did forensic science. Which uni are you going to?

In terms of things to take, no matter what you'll go overboard first time round. Everyone does so don't worry. Best advice I can give is make the most of freshers week, you'll never find an easier time to make friends again in your life.

Best piece of life advice, don't be a hermit keeping yourself locked away in your room. Leave your door open for the first week or two if possible, socialize, join a sport or society.

You may or may not be a gamer, or a book worm, or a telly addict.. whatever it may be, don't seclude yourself to your room... the games/books/tv etc will still be there in a few weeks time. Don't be the guy who misses out on making friends because you had better things to do.

Whatever your passion is there's something for everything and everyone, so find that sport or society. You'll have no problem making friends.

Biggest piece of advice, just relax and enjoy it. Remember, everyone is in the same situation, no one knows anyone, so people will appreciate you going up to them to chat and make friends.
