We were talking about accents in the chat and it got me thinking about
The Accent Challenge.
Now you'll need to do a voice recording or a video if you're brave to partake. Please don't answer with a text post.
It's not very complicated, don't worry. I didn't invent it though I changed and added some questions to fit this website.

Accent Challenge

1. Your username
2. Where you’re from.
3. Pronounce the following words:
- Aunt
- Roof
- Route
- Theatre
- Iron
- Salmon
- Caramel
- Fire
- Water
- New Orleans
- Pecan
- Both
- Again
- Probably
- Alabama
- Lawyer
- Coupon
- Mayonnaise
- Pyjamas
- Caught
- Naturally
- Aluminium
- getDare
- Crackerjack
- Doorknob
- Envelope

4. What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
5. What is a bubbly carbonated drink called?
6. What do you call gym shoes?
7. What do you call your grandparents?
8. What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
9. What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
10. Choose a book and read a passage from it.
11. Do you think you have an accent?
12. Name 5 getDare users as quickly as you can without thinking.
13. What's your favourite accent other than your own?

What site can I record my voice on?

And do we say everything mic? Like even our username, where we are from?

Vocaroo works but I'm probably going to do mine on Audacity (any computer should have a voice recorder though) and then upload it to tumblr and use that link just because I'm not sure how long Vocaroo keeps an audio for. I know some of the ones in the older threads no longer play.

I'll probably use Soundcloud.com and I would recommend that to others. Is it ok if I use profanities in answering questions (I sometimes find it hard not to...

)?

I just signed up to SoundCloud, it looks good so I'd recommend it over Vocaroo definitely at the moment.

There's already been one.

Also I presumed we had to answer those questions as part of the voice recording. Was I wrong?

I'd say to record all your answers kind of like a video blog or interview or whatever you choose to call it. Start recording "Hey, my username is smokeyeager and I'm from North Carolina, US and this is how I say (read off list of words). When we throw toilet paper on a house we call it tp'ing. We call a bubbly carbonated drink a drink or softdrink, we call gym shoes shoes and everything else by what it is like boots, heels, loafers, dress shoes etc.." so on and so forth down the list until you get to where it says "End audio post by saying any THREE words you want." say three words and click stop

Not a voice one there hasn't. Can't really tell a lot aboout an accent from some written words :/

I like to humiliate noteworthy! You all can too, feel free! Ok, so everyone knows, I been on getdare since October 24th 2008. This is just my new account, thats all. I was lokelake, changed it to loke. So I guess you could say I am still using my same name, just the shortened version of it.
